Different types of mutations have been identified in the TRIP12 gene (nonsense, frameshift, splice site, missense mutations).
At this point, we suspect that the mutations lead to the inactivation of one copy of the TRIP12 gene and the remaining functional copy does not produce enough TRIP12 protein to provide a normal function.
