Management

AD Alport syndrome. Treatment is with renin-angiotensin aldosterone (RAAS) blockade from the onset of microalbuminuria in both males and females and possibly SGLT2 inhibitors at least in adults until more data becomes available on the safety and efficacy in children.

There is no cure for AR Alport syndrome. Treatment is with renin-angiotensin aldosterone (RAAS) blockade from the time of diagnosis in both males and females and possibly SGLT2 inhibitors at least in adults until more data becomes available on the safety and efficacy in children.

In addition people with AD Alport syndrome or AR Alport syndrome should not smoke, not become overweight or develop diabetes, have well-controlled blood pressure, and exercise regularly.
