CTCF

Management

While there is currently no cure for CTCF-related disorder, there are many ways to support the health, development, and well-being of individuals with CRD.

Management involves a team of specialists working with families to meet each child’s needs. Care is personalized and may include:

•    Developmental support
Early intervention services can help with physical, speech, and occupational therapy to support learning and motor skills.
•    Behavioral and emotional support
Therapies may help with behavior, attention, social skills, anxiety, and sleep issues. Medications can be helpful in some cases.
•    Medical care and monitoring
o    Regular growth checks (height, weight, head )
o    Neurology care for seizures if they occur
o    Heart and kidney evaluations if needed
o    Vision and hearing checks
o    Orthopedic care for bones, joints, or muscle tone
o    Support for feeding and nutrition, which may include feeding therapy or special feeding plans.
•    Family support
Families benefit from genetic counseling and connections to community resources and family support organizations.

Ongoing monitoring helps detect any new concerns early so they can be addressed. Many individuals with CRD make important developmental progress with the right supports in place.
