We recommend that children diagnosed with GAND are seen in consultation by a geneticist, a neurologist, a cardiologist, an ophthalmologist and a developmental pediatrician for evaluation.
Based on our previous and current work, GAND-affected children should receive a developmental assessment, ophthalmological evaluation, heart ultrasound, an EEG (if there is clinical suspicion of seizures or staring spells) and possibly an MRI of the brain (with consideration of safety issues if sedation is needed).
As GAND may present with a combination of signs and symptoms associated with other disorders that form the protein complex NuRD, it may be prudent to have GAND children undergo evaluation for findings seem in other NuRD-related disorders (NuRDopathies) such as male genital anomalies (hypospadias, cryptorchism), inguinal hernias, a hearing assessments and dental evaluations.
