Management

Management is mainly supportive and includes antiepileptic drugs for seizures, physiotherapy for spasticity, and treatment of associated comorbidities like feeding difficulties, gastroesophageal reflux, contractures and constipation. Early diagnosis needs clinical suspicion and molecular genetic testing. Prenatal diagnosis is feasible in families with a previously affected child with a pathogenic AIMP2 variant.
