APOPT1

Clinical Characteristics

APOPT1/COA8 mutations cause a neurological disease that can manifest during childhood with episodes of loss of ability to talk and walk, together with lowered consciousness and lack of movement coordination and the inability to use the arms, legs and body. After the acute episode, the clinical course ameliorates but some of the speech and movement impediments can still be present in a milder form.
