Management

Rehabilitation including physiotherapy and individually tailored orthotic management, whether for maintenance or correction of joint mobility is recommended, as well as surgical or nonsurgical orthopedic management of the joint contractures.
Surgical correction of thumb deformities is frequently performed. Techniques for release of these thumb adduction contractures include Z-plasties or a local flap. Knee and hip contractures are operated less frequently. Scoliosis surgery is not needed in most of patients.
To date, no pharmacological treatment has proven to be useful.
