Currently there is no cure for RECON syndrome. Affected patients may have premature aging so there may be the possibility of additional clinical symptoms developing that are normally observed in older people e.g. loss of hair, loss of skin elasticity, greying of hair, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart abnormalities, muscle wasting and cancer development. However, since only three patients have been identified, who are still quite young, it is not clear whether they will prematurely develop symptoms normally associated with aging.
