Atelís syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder caused by biallelic mutations in the SMC5 gene. The main clinical features are microcephaly, short stature, cardiac defects, anaemia and hypothyroidism. Only 5 patients have been identified with biallelic mutations in SMC5, so the prevalence is unknown.
