Floating-Harbor syndrome is a rare genetic condition that causes impairments in speech and language, growth problems and short stature together with some shared facial features. Approximately 100 affected individuals have been reported world-wide in the medical literature. The disorder is named after the two hospitals where it was first reported – Boston Floating Hospital and Harbor General Hospital (California).

The gene which is affected in Floating-Harbor syndrome is called SRCAP. The SRCAP gene is important in controlling growth and development of our bodies and is described in more detail below.
