CELF4

Professionals

CELF4 (CUGBP, ELAV-like family member 4) is one of six mammalian CELF proteins that function as RNA-binding proteins regulating mRNA metabolism. CELF4 (chr 18q12.2) is expressed in the central nervous system particularly in the excitatory neurons of the cerebral cortex, where it is required for spine formation and proper neurotransmission (Shen. ). CELF4 is implicated in del (18q) syndrome characterized by prominent neurological involvement and additional features such as obesity and eye diseases.
