GZF1 is a gene that produces a protein essential for regulating the expression of other genes. If GZF1 is mutated, many genes can become dysregulated, expressing either too little or too much of their proteins. On the larger scale, these mutations may cause laxity or dislocation of joints, problems in vision and hearing, and abnormal orientation of the back.
