Features of the disease may include but are not limited to:
- Muscle floppiness, giving way to muscle spasticity with time.
- Seizures are often very difficult control with medications.
- Progressive loss of previously attained developmental skills and mobility.
- May ultimately need to have tube feeding implemented to protect the airway.
- Brain imaging studies often show abnormalities.
