TDP2

Molecular characteristics

TDP2 is a gene that promotes the repair of broken DNA, and in particular DNA that has been broken into two pieces (a type of DNA damage known as a DNA double strand break or “DSB”). TDP2 promotes the repair of DSBs by ‘cleaning’ the broken DNA ends of DSBs to prepare them for re-joining back together (a process known as DNA ligation). TDP2 functions as part of a DNA repair pathway known as Non-Homologous End-Joining, of “NHEJ”.
