Management

Management is symptomatic and anticipatory. There is no gene-specific treatment available currently. This include multidisciplinary team care involving the neurologists, developmental pediatricians, geneticists, gastroenterologists, neurorehabilitative therapists (including physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists) and dietician. Management is aimed to manage the various clinical manifestations and includes:

  • Anti-epileptics, including ketogenic diet, to manage seizures
  • Feeding therapy, including tube feeding, in children with feeding difficulties
  • Neuro-rehabilitative therapy
  • Speech and language therapy
