RAB11A

Molecular characteristics

A gene is an instruction to assemble proteins, which are structures essential for the formation and proper functioning of our body. The RAB11A gene gives instructions for the formation of the RAB11A protein. Mutations in the RAB11A gene can affect the RAB11A protein. This protein is believed to play important roles in the functioning of cells, especially the cells of the nervous system (namely the brain). RAB11A mutations can be diagnosed by genetic testing, usually performed on a blood sample.
