Due to the complexity of the clinical picture, patient care should be interdisciplinary, ideally in a centre. Required disciplines are:
• oral and maxillofacial surgeon for treatment of cleft palate (plate, operations)
• pediatric cardiologist and cardiac surgeon for treatment of cardiac defects (VSD, ASD)
• Social Pediatric Centre (SPZ, Germany) or comparable neuropediatric facility for the treatment of developmental delay and resulting need of various therapies such as physiotherapy, speech therapy (Castillo-Morales) and early intervention (“Frühförderung”) and counselling of the family (e.g. choosing the right kindergarten and school)
• pediatric gastroenterologist due to feeding difficulties
• human geneticist for molecular genetic diagnostics and counselling of the family (risk of recurrence)
• pediatric psychiatrist for treatment of autism spectrum disorder and behavioural abnormalities
• pediatric orthopaedic surgeon for treatment of skeletal system abnormalities e.g., scoliosis
